WORKSHOPS
We at Dead Rabbits Theatre Company are very excited to offer our unique brand of theatre to schools and colleges in the form of fun, interesting and inclusive workshops. Regardless of ability or experience, we aim to make our workshops accessible to all. Our collaborative storytelling and devising style are perfect for building confidence in group settings and accessing every corner of the imagination.
We offer a variety of options depending on what you require (Improvisation, Devising, Character or any of these Digitally), as well as this our workshops are able to be differentiated for age groups, from Primary, all the way to University level.
Our workshops are delivered by DBS certified, highly skilled, theatre creators and facilitators. The high-quality workshops on offer are very affordable and we aim to build long-term working bonds with schools and colleges too. If unable to have face to face time with us, we can also offer live or pre recorded digital lessons. With the company’s support from Drama St Mary’s (St Mary’s University Twickenham), we are also able to offer a compelling insight to life at drama St Mary’s for college age students looking into Acting as a university pathway.
Improvisation and spontaneity
This workshop will test the students to think on their feet and encourage them to be braver and bolder; embracing the unknown, rather than fearing it.
It will include some silly games to sharpen reactions and reflexes, followed by exercises using props, music and storytelling to prompt them into improvisation. Before they know it the students will be improvising without even knowing it! Improvisation is key for devising purposes and when things don’t go according to plan on stage, as well as all of its functional uses, it can bring us a lot of joy and laughter. Skills in improvisation can build confidence exponentially on stage and in life too, as it makes the actor unafraid and unphased by the unknown.
Our workshop facilitators are incredibly well versed in improvisation and at Dead Rabbits we truly appreciate the importance of being able to react off the cuff when the circumstances require.

Devising
Our devising workshop will allow your students to find more ease in creating theatre and collaborating with one another.
In devising we want to be able to embrace every idea we can, but be ready to move on swifty when something doesn’t work. It is about creating something that encompasses the best parts of each person in the collaborative process, not just one or two people, it’s about playing to each other's strengths, and we hope to provide the tools to achieve this.
The workshop will begin with team building exercises to break the ice and ensure everyone is relaxed and open to creating together. Then, learning through doing, with various devising scenarios thrown their way, some with more instruction than others (but don’t worry, we will be going around, giving advice, making sure everything is working harmoniously). Constructive feedback will always follow. Devised theatre can uncover true creativity and can be a joy to behold
At Dead Rabbits, devising is how to create each and every one of our shows, therefore we know just what it takes to make it work. Have a look at the ‘shows’ page and check out some of the reviews and awards we’ve garnered from our devising!

Character
Finding character is so important to acting, it enhances everything you do on stage from what you say and how/why you say it, to the way you move and react.
Exploring different characters gives actors the ability to become anyone or anything, which is a very empowering thing. This workshop will include a variety of games and exercises that require the actors to let go and delve into their imagination to become something new. We will look at finding characters through these exercises and finding how we can scale the character up and down to points of subtlety, melodrama and everything in between. We will take these characters and then see how we can transpose them into the setting of a scene or story.
This will be a workshop full of fun and imagination but prepare to get silly. Our shows are full of larger than life characters, from all walks of life, all with incredible humour and also depth; flick through our gallery to have a look at us being crazy!
